Just about time for another poet to have their life changed. Yes, the announcement of the 2011 Kathleen Grattan Award is fast approaching. The official announcement will be in Landfall 222 and on air (The Arts on Sunday) on November 20th, but this year OUP have released a shortlist of five:
- Nick Ascroft, ‘Anonymous Phenomena’
- Brent Kininmont, ‘Terminal’
- Emma Neale, ‘The Truth Garden’
- Marty Smith, ‘Horse with Hat’
- Albert Wendt, ‘From Manoa to a Ponsonby Garden’
Judge Cilla McQueen had 60 entries to consider, and I understand whittled it down to a longlist of 25, before homing in on these 5 contenders. Can’t wait to find out who it is. Good luck guys!
