An absolutely uneventful night in Canterbury

I knew the world was going to end after Trump won the election, but I didn’t realise that the planet also felt that way.

Jokes aside, we’re ok here – shaken, hyper-vigilent, seriously sleep-deprived, but intact. But I have to confess I did spend a bit of time whimpering. The big one just seemed to go on and on and on. Shades of September 2010. But this time at least it didn’t build. And we’re well practiced at this crap.

The tsunami warning was new though – we didn’t hear any sirens, and are theoretically far enough away from the shore to be out of the danger zone. But there was a steady stream of evacuees from Taumutu and Rakaia Huts coming in all through the wee-smalls.

Ugh, more shakes. Stay safe, people. Kaikoura, Hanmer, Culverden and Seddon, we’re crossing everything for you. Hang in there.
