Bobbing on the Meniscus

is a fairly crap pun, but at least gives me something to put in as a title. And an excuse to use this gorgeous Toni Frissell photo.

Ahem. This is just a quick and dirty post to say that yay, Portrait of my father as a racing yacht, the Pomfaa poem I wrote about way back in January last year (see Shakespeare, Ane Brun, a Yacht Race, and Sting) has just come out in the latest issue of Meniscus.

I’m so grateful to editors Jen Webb and Ginna Brock for selecting this poem – I still feel too emotional about this one to be able to read it in public, but writing it was a deeply moving experience, so it’s a huge relief to know that it speaks to other people. (Especially when some of the other Pomfaa poems – which I think are every bit as good – have been coming back with a thanks but no thanks. Yup, I still get plenty of rejections. And yep, it still sucks.)

But yay for Meniscus Volume 14, Issue 1!
